For anyone who has never attended an MTB clinic. Want to ride challenging trails with more confidence and gain more control over your mountain bike? During these MTB clinics, you will learn the basic skills and techniques needed to ride stronger, safer and with more control. Without a good foundation, it will be difficult to further develop more complex techniques.

What will I learn during the Fundament clinic?

You will work on the techniques you need to ride trails with more control and confidence. Think about three stances (Basic, Attack and Flow stances), effective braking, bowl and flat turns, loose ground, obstacles and rolling drops. Afterwards, you will receive video analysis and reference material to review everything at home.

For anyone who is already used to riding a mountain bike, but notices it still gets tricky on technical sections. Maybe you have been cycling for a while but have never really worked on your technique. This clinic lays the foundation on which all subsequent steps build.

It starts with slightly bent arms, your weight centred above the bottom bracket and your gaze ahead on the trail. During the clinic, we practice three postures: the Basic posture for normal riding, the Attack posture for technical sections and the Flow posture for corners and speed.

A mountain bike in good condition and a helmet are mandatory. Check per clinic what the rental options are. Also: gloves, sporty clothes and plenty of drinks. Knee pads are not compulsory, but are wise at this level.

Yes. You will receive video analysis and reference material so you can review the techniques at home. Do you have any questions afterwards? Our trainers will be happy to help you. You will also become a member of the MTBTravel community free of charge.

The groups are small: 4 to 8 participants per session. This allows room for personal feedback from the qualified trainer. Everything is built up step by step.

The level of a trip depends on your mastery of Fundamental MTB skills (blue) and Technique (red).

Foundation

You will master the fundamentals of mountain biking if you know how to apply the following techniques with confidence: Basic, Attack and Flow stance, effective braking and at speed come turns as well as flat turns. Loose ground is no problem for you and you also ride over obstacles and ride rolling drops with confidence.

Technique (Flow and Obstacles)

With flow techniques, you know how to maintain and create speed. You master fast turns and drop techniques (push and jump). You make line choices while riding, use the Pedal-kick and ride Off-Camber. You ride technical climbs and descents with sharp turns with confidence, as well as jumps and root passages.
