The Harz (about 4.5 hours“ drive from central Netherlands) is Germany's northernmost low mountain range. Its highest mountain is the Brocken at 1142 metres, which belongs to the Harz National Park. In and around the Harz National Park, it is a great place for mountain bikers looking for challenging trails, stunning views and endless kilometres of trails. Trails around the Devil's Wall and the Bode Valley the ”Grand Canyon" of Germany are not to be missed.
The base for this Trail Weekend is Quedlinburg, a town on the UNESCO heritage list.
We will experience two different days around Quedlinburg, each with its own character.
MTB Trail Weekend Harz is two days of adventure with our guides. Challenging trails alternated with magnificent views you will enjoy the versatility that the Harz has to offer.
Level: Advanced, you are already experienced on the mountainbike. Dutch courses are no problem for you and you can bridge about 30-50km with 900hm every day.
This trip is also suitable for E-MTB.
Everyone will travel to the Harz on their own and check in at the hotel from 16:00. For those who already have time on the Friday to ride the first trails, we will share routes of different levels. These can be either surveyed or ridden on GPX. In the evening, when everyone has arrived and installed themselves, we will start the weekend in the local brewery (Lüdde) where the guides for the weekend will give the first briefing. After the briefing, food can also be eaten here (own costs).
After a good breakfast we go on the routes around the Quedlinburg today. Just like all the other routes that we ride with the guides this weekend, these are natural routes. The guides (we ride with two guides) adjust the route to the level of the group, there are enough technically challenging lines (but also the necessary chicken runs).
We will have lunch in an authentic German forest café.
Today we visit the Devil's Wall which we reach via a challenging root passage. Around the hard stone Devil's Wall there is a lot of sandstone to be found; perfectly flowy worn by water and wind.
Today you can expect to cover 40-60km with between 950-1200 metres of elevation gain.
Upon returning to the hotel, a communal dinner is planned (own expense) where the day's adventures can be discussed.
Today we drive straight into the Harz National Park with steep climbs, deep valleys and fairytale forests.
Once again, we ride natural trails “constructed” by local riders who know what mountain biking is all about. A hidden “ridge” ride in the forest, the rollercoaster with higher and higher berms. We also ride through the steepest gorge in Germany where Bikepark Bodetal (Downhill park with lift) can also be found. However, we stay on the challenging natural trails.
Count on some 35 km and 1100 altitude metres of mountain biking fun.
We will be back at the start around 3:00 PM and you will go home with an adventure richer!
The minimum number of participants to make this trip go ahead is 4 people. A maximum of 10 people can participate but we aim for 8 people per weekend.

The level of a trip depends on your mastery of Fundamental MTB skills (blue) and Technique (red).
You will master the fundamentals of mountain biking if you know how to apply the following techniques with confidence: Basic, Attack and Flow stance, effective braking and at speed come turns as well as flat turns. Loose ground is no problem for you and you also ride over obstacles and ride rolling drops with confidence.
With flow techniques, you know how to maintain and create speed. You master fast turns and drop techniques (push and jump). You make line choices while riding, use the Pedal-kick and ride Off-Camber. You ride technical climbs and descents with sharp turns with confidence, as well as jumps and root passages.
Still having trouble choosing or are you still in doubt? We are happy to guide you to get the most out of your next MTB trip. To this end, we have developed a clear, constructive clinic programme.
